Legal Age for Piercings in Ontario

Ages 15+ can receive one of the above piercings, plus septum, tragus, shell, daith and tower with a valid ID and ID of the signatory parent. Age 16+ can obtain one of the above piercings as well as lips and eyebrows with a valid photo ID. The age for tattooing is 18 years with proper ID. Guests 16 or 17 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian with appropriate identification. An accepted ID is a driver`s license, passport, photo health card, BYID card, birth certificate with student card. We ask all customers to provide proper identification upon request in order to obtain a tattoo at Thrive Studios. Although Health Canada provides guidelines to prevent the spread of infection, the federal government does not set a legal age for piercings. There are still piercings that we will not do if the person is under 16 years old. We do not accept letters or phone calls to verify parental consent, if there are any unusual circumstances, call first. (*Note that a parent or guardian is not a person over the age of 18 who signs for you.) We always reserve the right to refuse a piercing if we believe you are not who you claim to be or if the ability to care for the piercing is questioned. You must be at least 18 years old to have genital piercings.

You can get other piercings like your belly button at the age of 16. You MUST have photo ID to prove your age. If you go to a piercing place and they don`t ask you for ID, it`s a better idea to go somewhere else. If you are under 16, you will need a parent or Gaurdian to accompany you to get a piercing. His company refuses to perform „exotic piercings“ or genital and nipple piercings on people under 19, and only allows ear piercings for teenagers 16 and older without parental consent. If the surnames and/or addresses do not match, or if no address is given on one or both pieces of identification, we will need the minor`s original birth certificate to prove their relationship to each other. If the adult accompanying the minor is not the parent but the legal guardian, we also need additional guardianship documents. We offer earlobe piercings for children 8 years and older, limited edition piercings for clients 13 years and older and selected piercings for minors aged 16 to 17 in the presence of a parent or guardian. In accordance with Philadelphia regulations, we are unable to provide piercing services other than earlobe and outer ear cartilage piercings to customers under the age of 16 in our Philadelphia studio, even with parental consent.
